Advocacy Update

You are invited to join many of your fellow AHDI and MTIA members during the 4th Annual Advocacy Summit to be held June 2-4, 2009 in Arlington, Virginia. Participants will travel to Capital Hill in Washington, D.C. and talk with their legislators about issues affecting healthcare documentation.

Registration

Registration for this event using the online registration or down load a registration form for mail or fax use. You can either register for a single day or for all 3 days. MTIA members will need to call our Member Services line at 800-982-2182 to receive the discounted rate.
Rates
Full registration (all 3 days) $40 Members of AHDI or MTIA
Nonmembers $65.00
On-site fees will apply after May 1, 2009.

Schedule of Events
Tuesday, June 2 Begins with a Board of Directors meeting in Arlington, VA at the hotel. Registration information including your lobbying packets can be picked up at 5:00 p.m. Registration is followed by a first timers orientation, a welcome reception (food provided) and a lobbying briefing. Individuals who are new to lobbying will have free time to meet with their state attendees for an evening breakout session.

Wednesday, June 3 Attendees are on their own to get with their state attendees and make their Hill visits. After a day on Capitol Hill, we will meet back at the Holiday Inn Arlington for a debriefing networking hour where members can share their experiences on the Hill. Attendees that have purchased tickets in advance will enjoy an evening bus tour of the monuments.
Thursday, June 4 Second lobbying day for attendees to meet with their legislators. After the last day on the Hill attendees will meet back at the hotel for a debriefing, closing keynote, and an end of event reception. Food will be provided to registrants.

CECs: This event is pre-approved for 10 Continuing Education Credits by the Credentialing Program at AHDI. CMTs will receive 5 Medicolegal and 5 Professional Development CECs for attending the full event

Credentialing News

For those of you who are interested in becoming credentialed, there will be a special discount just for AHDI members for an AHDI Exam Prep Workshop at the MTIA Conference being held in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, April 25, 2009. This Discount Package for AHDI members for $250.00 includes a Friday Single-Day Pass for April 24, 2009 as well as access to the workshop on Saturday.

Welcome to my blog!

Welcome to my blog page! I hope you will find the posts on my blog to be both interesting and educational. Being an instructor for several years now, I tend to approach anything I do with an eye towards how I can make it a learning experience, both for me as well as for others. Creating this page certainly qualifies!

Since I have viewed a number of blog pages by others and even read a book on blogging, I found that I did not want to just repeat information that many others have made available and that can be found posted in many other places. What I hope to do is to offer more insight and explanation of much of the information that is imparted to both members and nonmembers of AHDI and MTIA. I plan to take time to give background information, description of key concepts, and help anyone who reads my pages to have a better understanding of the ideals and strategies that have brought about many of the changes that have taken place.
